Ingredients
Sliced homemade seitan ham
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 dl (1/2 cup) of vegetable oil
1/2 tablespoon tomato puree
1 teaspoon of onion powder
Directions
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sugar, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, onion powder, vegetable oil, and tomato puree until well combined.
- Slice the homemade vegan ham into thin strips. Place the strips in a shallow dish or ziplock bag and pour the marinade over them. Ensure all the pieces are evenly coated. Allow the ham to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to absorb the flavors. For a more intense flavor, marinate for up to 2 hours.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the marinated ham strips in a single layer. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bacon is crispy and golden brown. Cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the pan.
- Drain and Serve. Remove the cooked bacon from the skillet and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Serve immediately.
